Woodville Consultants Ltd, a UK funder, specialises in providing funding to SRA-regulated law firms for very specific litigation cases in the UK. Each funding provided is protected by the After The Event (ATE) insurance.

Litigation finance is now a multi-billion dollar global industry attracting private funds and large institutional investors with the promise of double-digit returns.

Over the last decade, investors have ventured into the financing of various types of litigation cases, covering the legal fees in exchange for a fixed rate of return or a share of the profits. Traditional banks do not fund litigation cases as most cases are against the banks and insurance companies due to mis-selling. This leaves this niche investment opportunity exclusively for private investors. This funding, available primarily for claims with a high probability of success, and in Woodville's case only happens when the funding is protected and secured by an insurance policy (After-The-Event “ATE”) to mitigate the funder's risk.

Capital Funding for UK Law Firms

Woodville only funds UK law firms regulated by the SRA. Law firms need immediate capital to stay ahead of the competition and quickly deal with the high volume of cases that arise each week on a “No Win No Fee” basis.

Repayment of Finance

When the law firms win the cases they pay back the litigation funders plus the interest. If the law firm loses the case, the insurer pays the principal back to Woodville from the ATE policy.
